Culture

The cultural heritage of this area is a result of the changing rulers during different epochs that make the past live again on the shores of the lake, where you can see petroglyphs, Roman baths, medieval churches, castles and forts, villas of the Belle Époque and eco-sustainable modern structures, co-existing in an environment that does not suffer from massive and spontaneous tourism development as in other parts of Italy. The poems and paintings that have been passed down to us are testimony of the attractiveness of the lake which was already thriving in long-ago times. It's easy to identify with the moods of Catullus, Goethe, Klimt and many others who have chosen to stay in this area. Not far away, the city of Verona bears witness to florid times, noble families and love stories printed in the pages of the most famous short stories, declaring the city of Verona as one of the most beautiful and well-preserved in the world.
